Hi, I’m Rowan, a freelance writer and strategist for purpose-driven organizations. Over the past 15 years, I’ve collaborated with various non-profits, sustainable brands, inter-governmental agencies, and impact startups on conservation and international development projects.

About Me
Growing up on the coast of British Columbia, my childhood was shaped by backpacking trips in alpine meadows, adventures in cedar and moss-laden forests and explorations of coastal intertidal life, instilling a sense of awe for the incredible biodiversity of our planet. My earliest travels, snorkeling in the South Pacific and volunteering in Nepal, ignited my passion for conservation and global equity.
My academic journey led me to Australia for an undergraduate in geography and anthropology, followed by a six-month field course in Costa Rica, exploring the complex relationship between the environment and sustainable development.
After completing a Master’s degree in Environmental Resource Management, I worked as a writer and strategist. I also led conservation and humanitarian projects worldwide, collaborating with the National Parks in the Galapagos Islands, Amazonian species preservation groups in Ecuador, women’s groups in the highlands of Peru, education programs in Costa Rica, and Tibetan refugee programs in India.
Motivated by the potential for mission-driven organizations to create meaningful impact, I enrolled in a Master’s of Sustainable Business. Post-MBA, I worked for a global farmers’ marketplace that promoted ecological conservation and community resilience and for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Now a mother, I approach the mission to “save our planet” with a renewed lens and a heightened determination.
